Tint questions West Park drivers ask
What is the legal window tint in Florida?
On a passenger car — front side windows: 28%. Rear side windows: 15%. Rear windshield: 15%. Only a transparent strip along the top of the windshield is allowed, and it must stay out of the driver's direct forward viewing area — the AS-1 portion. No tint covers the main viewing area.
Is 20% tint legal in Florida?
20% sits inside the figures for the rear side windows and rear windshield. It is darker than Florida allows on the front side windows. On a multipurpose vehicle the rear figures differ — rear side windows 6%, rear windshield 6%.

Does Florida allow a medical exemption for window tint?
Yes. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles issues medical exemption certificates to people with lupus, any autoimmune disease, or another condition that requires limited exposure to light. The certificate covers the windshield, the side windows, and the windows behind the driver, it is tied to one vehicle (make, model, year and VIN, with a decal number), and it becomes void when that vehicle is sold or transferred. The law sets no expiration date for the certificate, and it allows the department to charge a fee that covers the cost of issuing it.
What does legal tint cost in Florida?
It turns on the vehicle, how much glass is being covered, and the film tier — dyed, carbon, and ceramic films price differently, and shops quote the finished job, not the film alone. The free 2026 Florida Tint Law and Cost Guide by email (below) includes cost notes that explain what shops weigh, so a quote makes sense when you get one.
