Tint questions Perrysburg drivers ask
What is the legal window tint in Ohio?
On a passenger car — front side windows: 50%. Rear side windows: No restriction. Rear windshield: No restriction. The windshield must let in at least 70% of light, and material along the top of the windshield that stays above the AS-1 line or within five inches of the top, whichever is closer to the top, is not regulated at all.
Is 20% tint legal in Ohio?
20% sits inside the figures for the rear side windows and rear windshield. It is darker than Ohio allows on the front side windows.
Where can I get legal tint installed in Perrysburg?
Perrysburg has 1 window film shop listed on Film Slingers, ranked by rating, then by review count — nobody buys a position.
Does Ohio allow a medical exemption for window tint?
Yes — by affidavit, not by permit. No agency issues an Ohio tint exemption. The exemption is an affidavit signed by a physician licensed in Ohio, or by an optometrist licensed in Ohio, stating that the person has a physical condition that makes it necessary to equip the vehicle with sunscreening material past the usual figures. The vehicle must be registered in Ohio in the name of that person, or their parent, legal guardian, or spouse, and the affidavit must be in the vehicle, in the possession of the person or the driver, at all times while in the vehicle. The rule names no fee and no expiration date.
What does legal tint cost in Ohio?
It turns on the vehicle, how much glass is being covered, and the film tier — dyed, carbon, and ceramic films price differently, and shops quote the finished job, not the film alone. The free 2026 Ohio Tint Law and Cost Guide by email (below) includes cost notes that explain what shops weigh, so a quote makes sense when you get one.

Ohio has no state tint inspection — but every tinted window on a 1990-or-newer vehicle must carry its maker's label between the film and the glass. The full guide states the law in plain English — fines, medical exemptions, and the windshield rule included.
